Recession Over?

I keep reading reports that say the recession is over. Really? My family, neighbors,Kroger cashiers, and Speedway cashiers all disagree. Obamacare is kicking in this week. It should be interesting to see how many people it helps and how many it hurts. I think I have accepted the fact that things will never be like they were before I lost my job.Employers are still dragging their feet hiring because of uncertainty of the economy. I can't find a job in my field or even out of my field for that matter.I am at that awkward age where I'm either considered a liability or over qualified because of my age. What do I do now--Sill working on it.All I ask is for stability in the market for a few months straight so I can find something. Maybe the country's recession is over , but mine isn't.Is your recession over?

Signs

Today's signs lead us thru life. Stop, curve ahead, school zone, deer crossing, etc. In our cars, it is very similar. When the oil light starts flashing we know we are going to encounter engine damage unless we add oil. Fasten seat belt chime reminds us if we don't wrinkle our shirt or dress by fastening it , we may have a wrinkled face for life after we eat the steering wheel in a car crash. Bright lights-means don't blind oncoming cars. Low fuel means get gas soon or be ready to walk.
This new one pictured above will be seen in all vehicles. It is a warning that your tire pressure is 25% below the recommended pressure. In other words, wives tell your husbands to add air for you . Not only will this guarantee a good safe ride , but you will also get better gas mileage. Just thought you'd like to know

Facebook

I check up on friends, old classmates, relatives, neighbors, coworkers, people I like, people I dislike. Facebook does it all. Its the best thing available when you are bored and have time to waste. Come to think of it, I seem to get sucked in even when I don't have time to waste. It amazes me how I always have time for facebook, but I never seem to have enough time and energy to read the bible regularly, work out regularly, and serve others regularly.
Facebook is addicting if you let it get you. Well it has me , but I've finally realized how much time I waste daily on it. It is my fill in when I am in between projects. From now on I will only play around on facebook after my daily routine is complete. Twittering doesn't count though.

Smoking

Since when do 2 year olds smoke? Todays society truely scares me. What is going to happen when this generation becomes adults in 16 or so years? I'll be 70 years old . What kind of healthcare will we have? I don't know what tomorrow will bring let alone 16 years from now.
I need a job-----any suggestions?

Forgiveness

How come it is so easy to forget something for awile , but so hard to forgive. When we run into someone from our past that hurt us, the heart beats faster, blood pressure rises and it seems like the incident just happened. I forgot about it a year ago ,but now I'm all fired up. Why did I listen to the message when I recognized the phone number? Why can't I let it go? I want to return the call, but I know that is the wrong move. All of a sudden I can't fogive and forget. Now I have 2 problems.
#1. I just need to acknowledge that the person that called is a suck up, brownnoser, and busybody who gathers info from people and uses it against them later. This person has always been like this so I must just let it go.
#2.I need to be the bigger person and let it go. After all he's the athiest and I'm the christian. That's how its supposed to happen
OK God, I get it now , I just had to write it out. Now I get it. Thanks for listening, and thanks for being there for me regardless of how goofy I act. It amazes me how you're always ther to pick me up, dust me off and send me back on my way.

Grandchildren

Raising our children over the past 30 years has been both frustrating and rewarding. In my opinion, staying involved in your childrens life fulltime is a must. Even after coming home from work after a 12 hour day, we took the time to stay tuned in to what was going on in our children's lives. I know people who took the easy way out and just let their childens lives to be put on the back burner and the majority of them have messed up children. You have to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Let's face the facts. If we carry on cursing, drinking, being disrespectful to the wife,---guess what? This is teaching your kids and more than likely they will take your behavior as what is expected of them. There are just too many irresponsible parents .
Our work to mentor our grandchildren doesn't stop just because our children are raised. Being a grandparent is a privalege.Being a good grandparent is a duty. I hope many more are in my future.

Looks Aren't Everything

Some people creep me out. I guess that's why I'm so opinionated about tattoos, piercings, wierd hair and strange clothing. They say first impressions are very important. This guy could control the eye thing a little bit, but he obviously uses it for shock effect as do tatooed peeps. Some people born that way or after an accident, I obviously feel sorry for, but people that exagerate their looks for shock value or attention really get to me. God made us and we should take care of ourselves. Why do we want to correct God? Am I out of line or what?

One Highlight from 2009

2009 was a year like I've never experienced before. After 34 years of working and providing for the family came to an end in March, oddly enough on Josh and Jessie's anniversary, I was lost. I quickly adjusted by working on Kris' house, helping with her first year of yardwork and the preparation of her new dog Ollie. Lydia's first birthday was great. I started to realize life goes on and I rolled with it. Summer came fast and Zak married CC. It was fun working on Zak's house from Holloween thru the end of the year. It was both fun and exhausting.Christmas came and went. New Years came and went as did the Bengals and UC.
I'm gearing up my job hunting and volunteering more. God has a plan-I'm still waiting for it to come into focus. I hope 2010 goes as well as 2009. Joel is due in 2 weeks. Now thats a good start to 2010.I can't believe this old bag of bones will become a grandfather for the second time already. Bring them on as Lor says.
